You CAN Make a Difference!
Our success depends on YOU! If you are ready to volunteer, there are endless possibilities for you to help the animals either at the shelter, at an off-site event or even from home!
All of our animals need to find loving homes and volunteers are critical to getting these great furry friends adopted! You can assist with everything from giving love and attention to a single animals to helping keep the whole shelter clean. Feel like playing matchmaker? Become a Cat or Dog Adoption Team member and perform Meet Your Match personality assessments and assist in showcasing animals to potential adopters. Would you rather work from home? Become a foster parent for baby kittens or a dog or cat who needs special care.
Each and every day the cats and dogs need attention and love and we make it easy for you to help them. Whether it's walking a dog, brushing a cat or exercising the bunnies, there's always plenty to do. Read about our available positions below or come on down today and help out!
Getting Started
If you are ready to volunteer you can stop by the shelter on any day of the week between 10am and 8pm and introduce yourself. We can provide you with immediate training opportunities to get you started.
We request that all volunteers attend a general orientation to learn about our organization, our philosophies and policies. Because we rely so much on the time and help offered by volunteers, AWA invites everyone from teenagers to better-with-age folks to join our volunteer corps and ask that you make a regular commitment to assist, weekly preferred.
