From the Desk of Paul: The Art of Tiny Needles and Big Love

Hey there! It’s Paul, your Chief Affection Officer. I want to share a story about resilience and routine. Also, it’s about the magic of kindness. And yes, there are treats involved! But we'll get to that later. Today, I want to share something exciting: my acupuncture sessions and daily physical therapy! They really help me feel great.

As many of you know, my back legs don’t work quite the way they’re supposed to. Some nerve damage means they need a little extra help, and my devoted team makes sure I get just that. Enter Dr. Sarah, my acupuncture guru. She visit me, and with the gentlest touch, she places tiny needles along my back and legs. Now, I know what you’re thinking – Paul, needles?! But trust me, friends, this is no ordinary experience. It’s a cozy, calming ritual, and once the needles are in, I enter a state of pure bliss. Some might call it a catnap. I call it ‘zen mode.’

These tiny needles do amazing things. They help my muscles relax and keep my nerves strong. Acupuncture has helped people and animals for thousands of years. It provides relief from pain, tension, and many ailments. I might not read old books on Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m too busy watching birds! But I am living proof that this method really works! And the best part? Dr. Sarah gives me the softest chin scritches while I bask in the healing energy. A cat could get used to such royal treatment!

But the care doesn’t stop there. Oh no, my dear Aunt Tracy (who, I must add, is a world-class Feather Wand Champion) makes sure I do my daily physical therapy. Dr. Emily taught her what I need. Together, they help me stretch, move, and keep my back legs strong. Tracy’s hands are gentle and patient, and she always makes it fun with encouragement and love.

Now, you might be wondering – what does physical therapy for a cat actually look like? It includes gentle stretching and supported walking exercises. Sometimes, it also uses fun toys to encourage movement. Tracy helps me work on my range of motion, ensuring my legs stay as flexible and functional as possible. Some days, I can be stubborn, but Tracy knows how to get me moving. A well-placed chin rub or a Churu snack often does the trick. Motivation is key, after all.

I love that my journey reveals a key truth: every animal deserves a chance for happiness, regardless of the challenges they face. Animals with special needs are often ignored. But with proper care and kindness, they can thrive. This shelter is more than a home. It’s a community of hearts. We work together to care for and cherish every animal, no matter their challenges.

During my time here, I’ve met amazing animals with special needs. There are cats with three legs who zoom around like superheroes. I’ve seen senior dogs who shine when they find a cozy lap. The humans here go above and beyond to make sure each one of us gets the care we need. My acupuncture and therapy show how love and dedication can change lives.

If you visit and see me during my acupuncture or PT session, don't think I'm just being pampered. I'm healing, growing, and inspiring both my feline and human friends. If you need a reminder to slow down and take care of yourself, just picture me. Imagine me with needles in place, eyes half-closed, purring happily in my zen bubble. We could all use a bit of that energy now and then.

Until next time, may your days be filled with comfort, care, and the perfect balance of effort and rest. And if you happen to have a treat in your pocket, well – let’s just say I wouldn’t turn it down.

Purrs and appreciation, Paul Chief Affection Officer
