Have you ever heard of TNR? It stands for Trap-Neuter-Return, a vital program for reducing cat overpopulation and saving countless lives. Here in New Jersey, thousands of cats end up in shelters each year, and sadly, many don't find their forever homes.
At AWA (The Animal Welfare Association), we're committed to making a difference. Thanks to your support, we've helped more than 1350 cats find loving homes in 2023 alone!
Here's how:
- TNR: Our TNR program humanely traps community cats, gets them spayed or neutered, and then returns them to their original territory. This helps to prevent unwanted litters and stabilize populations. AWA partners with trappers and other organizations across PA, NJ, and DE to expand our reach and impact.
- MASH Clinics: We operate Mobile Animal Sterilization Hospitals (MASH clinics) which bring affordable spay/neuter services directly to communities.
- Advocacy: We're actively working to improve stray hold laws.
Success Story: Our Summer Program, Raining Cats
This summer, our Raining Cats program saw incredible success, with more than 400 cats finding loving homes in two months! In our area, summer is a hyperactive breeding time for stray cats.Your support is making a real difference in the lives of these furry friends.
But we can't do it alone. Here's how you can help:
- Donate: Your generosity funds our life-saving programs. Every dollar makes a difference!
- Adopt: Looking for a furry friend? Check out our adoptable cats on our website: https://www.awanj.org/adopt/
- Spread the word: Talk to your friends and family about TNR and the importance of spaying/neutering your pet.
Together, we can create a world where all cats have a chance at a happy life. Visit https://www.awanj.org/volunteer/ to learn more and get involved!
