What is the Malibu and Gus Family Foundation Program?

Thanks to the generous support of the Malibu and Gus Foundation, the Animal Welfare Association Pet Clinic is proud to offer spay/ neuter surgeries packaged with select vaccines and other services for underprivileged cat owners in the South Jersey area for the highly-discounted rate of 50% current spay and neuter pricing. There are a limited number of spay/neuter surgery vouchers available per month.

This program furthers AWA’s mission to provide accessible, low-cost and high-quality pet healthcare to all in our Camden County community and beyond.

Costs and Services

Costs for eligible cat owners is based on the cat's sex:

  • $60 for male cat neuters
  • $70 for female cat spays

Services include spay/ neuter surgery plus:

  • Rabies vaccine
  • FVRCP (Distemper) vaccine
  • Microchipping
  • Nail trim
  • E-collar

*Note: All services must be  rendered during the same visit in connection with a spay/ neuter surgery, and cannot be purchased individually using this offer. Limit one (1) cat per “voucher” and one (1) "voucher" per household. Pet owner can refuse vaccines, but price does not change. Microchips are required and cannot be refused.

Eligibility

This program is eligible only for domestic cats. Feral cats are covered under our Trap-neuter-return (TNR) program.

Owners must qualify for one of these programs:

  • Medicaid
  • NJ SNAP
  • General Public Assistance
  • Rental Assistance
  • Aid to Families with Dependent Children
  • Lifeline Utility Credit
  • Tenants Lifeline Assistance
  • Supplemental Security Income (aka Disability benefits)

Proof of eligibility MUST BE PROVIDED AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Proof would include a copy of documentation received for one of the programs listed. Documents may be brought to AWA’s Pet Clinic or sent via email.

Please redact SSN and other sensitive information when providing documentation. Client will need to provide documentation each time a surgery is booked.

Eligibility not transferrable with pet.

Scheduling and Payment

You can book appointments following AWA’s normal scheduling guidelines for public surgeries. For questions, please contact our Pet Clinic:

Payment must be made at the time of booking.

Payment is non-refundable and subject to the same rescheduling guidelines as surgery deposits.

Malibu and Gus Program FAQ

Can I add additional services?
Of course! If your cat has other healthcare needs outside of those offered, you may pay for additional services. Please discuss this with us when making your appointment.
What if I don't want/ need all services?
You may decline any of the services offered under the program, aside from the microchip. However, removing services will not change the price. Services may not be split into multiple visits, and may not be shared with another pet or client.
How many surgeries can I request?
Our current funding allows for one surgery voucher per household. Valid and current proof of eligibility must be shown each time.
I've already come in for surgery, can I get a refund?
There are no refunds or credits given. Program eligibility must be determined and paid in full at the time of booking.
How long will the program run?
This is a 3-year program, running from September 2025 - August 2028. There will be a limited number of vouchers available per month.
