Voorhees, NJ — Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is pleased to have received a Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence Grant from Best Friends Animal Society to help increase lifesaving and continue to help pets in Southern New Jersey.
“Even with current lifesaving programming in place, our work to help pets in our care isn’t done,” said Laura Houston. “This grant allows us to focus on working with overcrowded regional shelters to help close their life-saving gap through the transportation of cats and kittens to AWA for a second chance. Our Community Cat Coordinator can assist in the coordination of TNR efforts between shelters, rescues, and trappers in our community to ensure we continue to save all healthy and treatable pets and maintain a 90 percent or higher save rate. We appreciate the support of Best Friends Animal Society to continue our ongoing lifesaving work.”
Animal Welfare Association is an active partner in Best Friends Network which offers help and support to animal rescue groups and shelters that save lives in their communities.
“When you choose to adopt your next pet, you are becoming part of the solution right here in our community,” said Houston.
The Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence Grants is a grant program, administered by Best Friends and funded by The Rachael Ray Foundation™, that provides grants to shelters to celebrate and help sustain organizations in no-kill communities. The Rachael Ray Foundation helps animals in need and is funded by a portion of proceeds from each sale of Rachael's pet food, Nutrish®.
